Due diligence can lead to a lot of valuable information, especially for experienced researchers. However, potential investors often overlook one very important component, which is what employees think about their employer. Of course, those on the inside are going to offer valuable information.

According to Glassdoor.com, employees rate their employer a 3.5 out of 5, and 77 percent of employees would recommend the company to a friend. A relatively impressive 77 percent of employees approve of CEO John Chambers. These numbers are important, but let delve a little deeper. Please keep in mind that the following information is a summarization of various (and anonymous) employee comments.

Cisco employees tend to agree on many points. One is overexpansion in China and India. Two is aiming for cheaper employees opposed to those who can work faster or better. Three is too many reorganizations, which leaves less time for execution on existing programs. Four is a top-heavy management structure that leads tointernal politics taking a precedence over customer needs and defeating competition. Five is too much bureaucracy, which has limited the company’s fullpotential. The last two points are normal for a large company. The former three points are potential negatives. On the positive side, employees enjoy the superior technology and organization.

And speaking of client wins, there are some simple truths about ARUN's client base which can't be denied. Some of the most technologically savvy, analytical and discerning buyers are choosing ARUN. Again, there is little discussion here about technology. But why should you listen to me, or any financial analyst or CFA, try to be an 'expert' on technology. When companies issue Requests For Proposals, they bring in very astute and analytical people to evaluate the choices. This is especially true in University settings where academia will scrutinize every minute detail. Universities such as Northwestern, Indiana University, University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Florida State, Texas A&M, Holy Cross, San Diego State, Shanghai University of Finance, Purdue University and many other large, medium, and small universities around the world are choosing ARUN's technology. Many K-12 schools are also converting to ARUN. In addition, the Department of Defense and the FDIC have given substantial business to ARUN in the Government vertical. They also have a substantial client list in the medical and enterprise verticals. The recent revelation about partnering with Google to implement a complete solution set in all Starbucks stores throughout the U.S. is one prominent example. Their client portfolio now exceeds 30,000 and they continually receive repeat business and outstanding customer service evaluations from their clients. These facts provide all the evidence needed that the ARUN proposition is much more than providing access points. They continue to work closely with all major mobile device providers, Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG), IBM (IBM), Microsoft (MSFT), Verizon (VZ), and many others in advancing the functionality of Wi-Fi capabilities. In addition the disclosure of ARUN receiving the highest quadrant in the recent Gartner ranking provides additional independent analysis of ARUN's industry leading product portfolio. IBM (IBM) was among several blue chips to report after the bell today, though it did not fare as well as some of its peers.

It was the predicted revenues of $24.77 billion where IBM fell short, noting $23.7 billion in that category. Shares slumped as much as 6% in after-hours trading, as a drop in revenue is a trend that has been worrying investors.

IBM’s grip on emerging markets has been slipping, with revenues declining this past quarter in key markets overseas. Now, the firm has shown declining revenues in each of the last six quarters, causing quite the sell-off of its stock.

IBM shares had been up $2.07, or 1.11%, when markets closed Wednesday. With the losses in after-hours trading, IBM’s stock is down more than 5% this year.

Honeywell is a much more broadly diversified company than many investors give it credit for, with its automation and control systems business earning the most revenue of its four main divisions. As part of a coalition with companies including Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR  ) , Praxair, and General Dynamics, Honeywell will participate on a $10 million contract from the Department of Energy to further clean-energy manufacturing. That contract is obviously small, but the prospects of clean-energy industry are much larger, and the project should help Honeywell gain valuable expertise in the area that it can put to more profitable use going forward.

Actually, there are several companies on these lists that qualified for either or both of my favorites lists. For example, Aflac (AFL) and or Emerson Electric (EMR) could easily be on both lists. My point is that I feel the reader should give the same consideration to each of these names as they would the two top 10 lists. To be clear, selecting the top 10 was difficult and therefore to a great extent subjective on my part. My method was to simply run a F.A.S.T. Graphson each Dividend Champion with above-average total return calculations. Then my lists were created by picking and choosing those companies that from my review looked best based on value, earnings and safety.
